They are joined by Wylan, the son of a Ketterdam merchant, Nina, a Grisha Heartrender and Matthias, a former Druskelle guard.īardugo parcels out information bit by bit so readers feel almost as clever as the characters and grow fond of them as they get to know and care more about each other. His right hand is Inej, known as “the wraith” for her ability to appear anywhere without being seen coming or going. Based in the fictional city of Ketterdam, the gang is led by Kaz Brekker, a clever boy who found himself alone on its mean streets at the age of nine and has worked his way up to second-in-command of one of its crime gangs, the Crows. Six of Crows is a novel about a magical heist, tightly plotted and with well-drawn characters. I liked Six of Crows so much I had to go right on and read the second one, Crooked Kingdom, and enjoyed it almost as much as the first. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because I’d read Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo, I thought I’d have an idea of what was going on in the TV series, but I felt really lost trying to follow the plot, as it was intertwined with the plot of Six of Crows, another book by the same author. ![]()
